Your voice part tells cori and your choir which voice you sing. cori uses it, for example, to preselect the right track for sing-along, and within the choir it assigns you to the right voice section. You set it when you join a choir — separately for every choir.

The four voices

You can choose Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. On top of that there's the voice number (1 or 2) for divided voices — Soprano 1 and Soprano 2, for instance. If you're not sure, ask your choir director; you can change it at any time.

Picking your voice when you join

When you join a choir, cori shows you the “Choose your voice” selection before you finally join. You can't continue without a voice — the join button stays inactive until you've picked one. Choose your voice part (and the voice number if you need it) and confirm. You'll find the whole process under Joining a choir.

A separate voice for each choir

Your voice part applies per choir. If you sing tenor in one choir and bass in another, you can store the right voice for each one — they don't affect each other.

Changing your voice later

You can adjust your own voice yourself at any time:

Open the choir settings

In the choir concerned, open Choir›Settings.

Adjust “Your voice”

Right at the top you'll find the Your voice section. Pick a new voice part and voice number there — the change is applied immediately.

Changing someone else's voice

The choir leadership and admins can also adjust other members' voices — via the member list. You'll find out how under Changing a member's voice.
