Joining with the 6K access code

Get into the 6K practice room as a child, a parent or a teacher with the 6K access code, in the app or in the browser, with or without an existing cori account.

Web + app

You don't get into the 6K practice room with an invitation link but with a short 6K access code. You get it from your teacher, your choir director or directly from 6K UNITED!. This guide shows the route in the app and in the browser, for participants and for teachers, and what to do if the code doesn't work.

Two codes, two roles

There's the general 6K access code, the one children join with as participants, and the teacher key for teachers. cori recognises from the code itself which role you get; you don't have to select anything. Upper and lower case make no difference.

Joining in the app without having an account

Here's how it goes the very first time you open the cori app:

1
Open the app and choose 6K

On the sign-in screen you'll find the card Join in with 6K UNITED! below the normal sign-in buttons. Tap it instead of signing in or registering.

2
Enter the code

Type your 6K access code into the field under the heading “Your access code” and confirm with Next.

3
Set your name

cori asks: “What should we call you?” This name later appears in your group's name list and next to your response to appointments. A first name is enough.

4
Choose your voice

Next comes the question “Which voice part are you?” with the answers Left, Right and I don't know yet. Your choice controls which voice is highlighted in the songs. You can change it in the settings at any time.

5
Join

Tap Join now. Your account is created at that moment, with no email address and no password at all.

6
Find your group

Finally cori asks about your group. Type the name exactly as your teacher announced it, and tap Join in next to the match. If you don't know the name right now, choose Maybe later. You can join at any time later from the settings.

For a teacher the route is the same, only shorter: after the teacher key, cori only asks for your name and takes you straight on to creating your group. You don't choose a voice.

Joining in the browser

The 6K practice room also runs in the browser without installing anything, on the school PC or the laptop at home, for example:

1
Open the page

Go to cori.music/6k-proberaum and click Practise in the browser. You land on the code entry screen in the 6K design.

2
Enter the code

Enter your 6K access code and click Next. For parents, there's a short info video from 6K UNITED! above the field.

3
Name and voice

Enter the name you want the others to see you under, and choose Left, Right or I don't know yet. With Join now you're in.

4
Join a group

Unlike the app, the browser doesn't ask about your group straight away. For that, open Settings or the Calendar tab and choose Join a group.

The browser remembers that you've joined; next time you open it you land straight in the 6K practice room. Everything else about the browser is in Opening the 6K practice room in the browser.

Joining when you already have a cori account

If you're already signed in with your cori account, you don't need a second one:

1
Open the choir picker

In the choir bar at the top, tap the plus field or the entry for joining or creating a choir.

2
Choose the card for the code

There, select the card that asks whether you have a code, and enter your 6K access code.

3
Choose your voice and join

As a participant you still pick your voice, and then you're in. With a teacher key you go straight on to creating your group.

Your choirs are kept in full throughout. After joining, the 6K practice room appears as an additional tab at the top of the home screen, and you switch back and forth between 6K and your choirs with a single tap.

Joining can be repeated

Entering the same code a second time does no harm. cori recognises an existing membership and doesn't create a second one. If you took part last season, your old membership is simply reactivated.

The code doesn't work

In that case cori reports: “Invalid code. Please try again.” The most common causes:

  • A typo. Don't mix up the digit 0 with the letter O. Spaces at the beginning or end, on the other hand, are harmless; cori trims those.
  • A code from last season. 6K UNITED! issues new codes for every season. Ask your teacher for the current one.
  • The teacher key is used up. Such keys can have a limited number of redemptions. Once that's reached, the key is rejected.
  • The teacher key has expired. Keys can come with an expiry date.

In the last three cases only 6K UNITED! can help. You can't generate a new code yourself in cori.

Too many attempts in a row

For security reasons, code checking is limited. If you try a great many codes in quick succession, the server temporarily blocks further attempts. In that case, wait a minute and then try again calmly.
