What is the 6K practice room?
The official practice area for 6K UNITED! inside cori: what's in it, who has which role, and how the 6K practice room differs from a cori choir.

Alongside choirs there's a second area in cori: the 6K practice room, the official practice area for 6K UNITED!. In it, children from more than 1,500 schools and choirs learn the same songs for the big arena concerts. This article explains what's inside the 6K practice room, how it differs from a cori choir, who has which role in it and what the children get to see.
The 6K practice room exists in the cori app for phones and tablets and, since the 2027 season, in the browser too, at cori.music/6k-proberaum. Both routes lead into the same area with the same access code. What works where is covered in Opening the 6K practice room in the browser.
6K practice room or cori choir?
Both are ways of using cori together, but they work fundamentally differently:
- A choir is set up by you. The choir leadership invites members by link, uploads its own songs, sheet music and files and manages the subscription, roles and appointments.
- The 6K practice room is set up by cori together with 6K UNITED!. The content (songs, practice videos, follow-along lyrics, sheet music) comes centrally from 6K. You can only join with an access code, and inside the practice room the children learn in groups, usually one per school class or choir.
Put differently: in a choir you decide on the content yourselves. In the 6K practice room, 6K UNITED! sets the programme for the season, and the groups practise with it.
You can be in the 6K practice room and in one or more choirs at the same time. In the app you switch using the tabs at the top of the home screen; tap the active 6K tab and you're back at your choirs. In the browser you move between the 6K practice room and your choirs via Switch at the top right.
The roles in the 6K practice room
Inside the 6K practice room there are exactly two roles:
Children and everyone else who sings along. They join with the general 6K access code, choose their voice and attach themselves to a group. They see the songs, the practice videos, their appointments and their own practice progress.
They run a group. You don't become a teacher by being appointed by someone, but by redeeming a teacher key, a second, separate code. Only with that can you create a group, create appointments and see attendance.
There's no "6K practice room management" role in cori. Everything to do with the practice room itself (songs, videos, sheet music, access codes) is set up by 6K UNITED! and cori outside the app. The contact point for that is 6K UNITED!, not the app.
What the children see
After joining, the home screen of the 6K practice room opens in the 6K UNITED! design, with a personal greeting. On it you'll find:
- All songs: the season's songs as practice videos with chapter markers, follow-along lyrics and sheet music. New pieces carry a New badge.
- Warm-up: short videos for warming up your voice
- your group's next appointment, as soon as you've joined one
- in the app additionally your streak, the practice days in a row, exactly as in the choir area, and depending on the season individual songs as cori songs that you can download and use to sing along with feedback
Your group's calendar joins them as soon as you're in a group: in the app as a tab at the bottom, in the browser at the top of the header. Teachers also get the Group tab in the app, with the name list.
Why a code and not an invitation link?
Choirs invite by link, the 6K practice room works with short codes. There's a practical reason for that: a code can be written on the board, read aloud or printed on a slip of paper, and it works for a whole school class at once, without every child needing an email address. Because that's exactly the second difference: when you join with an access code you need neither an email address nor a password. The name you want the others to see you under is enough.
An account created only with an access code is tied to precisely that device, or that browser. If you sign out or switch phones, you can't get back to that account. Anyone who needs that upgrades it once to a full cori account.
