Changing your choir settings
Default appointment confirmation, shared annotations, name and description — where the settings live, who's allowed to change them and what works on which platform.
Web + app
A choir in cori has surprisingly few settings — and exactly two of them noticeably change your day-to-day: the default appointment confirmation and whether members may share annotations. This guide shows where the settings live, who's allowed to change them and why the two platforms can't do quite the same things here.
Any member can open the dialog — right at the top sits their own voice part, and everyone gets to set that themselves. Everything else is visible only to the choir leadership and admins. The server double-checks this, so simply getting the dialog open isn't enough.
Where the settings live
The settings one by one
Your voice
It sits right at the top and applies to everyone: voice part plus an optional voice number (1 or 2). Your voice always applies to this choir only — in another one you can happily sing something else.
Default appointment confirmation
Choosing Accept, Uncertain or Decline determines the status members start out with in a newly created appointment, before they've responded themselves.
- Accept suits choirs where the weekly rehearsal is a given for everyone and only absences get reported.
- Uncertain requires an active response from everyone.
- Decline works well for extra appointments where only confirmations count.
The setting applies to future appointments — responses that have already been recorded stay exactly as they are.
Members can share annotations with their section
When the switch is on, members may share their markings in the sheet music with everyone who sings the same voice part. Annotations for the whole choir remain reserved for the choir leadership and admins regardless.
Name and description
The choir name and description can only be edited in the mobile app. The web app displays the name everywhere, but offers no input field for it. In the app, the description appears in italics at the top of the choir page — a good spot for your rehearsal time and venue.
Invitation link
In the web app the invitation link is part of the settings dialog; a click on the copy icon puts it on your clipboard. In the app it doesn't live in the settings but directly on the choir page, behind the + next to the member count.
Leaving and deleting a choir
The critical actions sit right at the bottom. They're described in detail elsewhere — see Leaving a choir and Deleting a choir.
Saving
This is where the platforms differ clearly — don't rely on your habits from the other side:
The other members will see the new name or the new default response as soon as their app next loads the choir data. In the app, a pull-down on the choir page is enough.
What deliberately isn't here
A few things you'd expect in the choir settings are handled elsewhere in cori:
- Who may post in a chat group — you set that per group in its info view.
- Roles and admin rights — you assign those via the ⋮ menu in the member list.
- Subscription and payment — in the web app only, under Subscription.
What's next?
- The list behind it all: The member list
- Automating responses: Automatic attendance
- Markings in the sheet music: Sharing annotations
- Who's allowed to do what: Roles and permissions in the choir
