Switching between several choirs
Sing in more than one choir with a single account: where the choir switcher sits, what applies per choir, and what carries across all of them.
Web + app
You don't need a second account to sing in more than one choir. cori attaches all your choirs to the same account and lets you switch between them — with your own voice pitch and your own role in each choir, but shared practice progress.
The choir switcher
cori works out the coloured badge in the web app from the choir's name automatically — from the initials if there are several words, otherwise from the first letters of the name. The colour is calculated from the name too, which is why it stays the same.
As long as you're in just one choir, cori selects it automatically. In the app the chip row then stays hidden, and in the web app the switcher only shows that one choir.
Tapping the active chip again clears the selection. That's not an accident but on purpose: with no choir selected, the choir tab shows the “Your choirs” overview, and the home screen pulls together the appointments from all your choirs. The switcher also appears in the messages area — there, each chip carries a red counter for unread messages.
The web app always works with exactly one choir. After switching you're taken to the home screen automatically, because the previous choir's songs, appointments and chats no longer apply. Your browser remembers the selection — on a different computer you'll have to make it again.
If you're also part of an organization such as 6K UNITED!, it appears in the app as its own chip in front of your choirs — in the organizer's design. Tapping it switches to the organization area, and tapping the active chip again takes you back to your choirs.
What applies per choir
Each choir is a space of its own. These are kept separate:
- your voice pitch — being a tenor in one choir and a bass in another is no problem at all
- your role — you can lead one choir and be an ordinary member in another
- songs, setlists and sheet music
- appointments and the responses that go with them
- chats and surveys
- the Drive with all its files
- the subscription — every choir is billed separately
What carries across all choirs
Personal, and independent of the choir you've selected:
- your account, including name, profile picture and language
- your practice progress: XP, level, streak and badges count across all choirs
The calendar deliberately ignores the selection and always shows the appointments from all of your choirs — that way you spot clashes between two choirs without having to switch. The choir board in your progress, on the other hand, follows the selection: with no choir selected there's no leaderboard.
Adding another choir
In the web app, click the choir switcher in the sidebar; in the app, tap the New chip at the end of the row.
Use an invitation link or invitation code to join an existing choir, or create a new one instead.
Remember to enter your voice in the new choir — it isn't carried over from the other one.
