Leaving a choir
Leave a choir yourself — what happens to your data and why cori won't let the last person in charge go.

Not singing along any more? Then you can leave the choir yourself at any time — you don't have to ask anyone. It only affects you: the choir carries on for everybody else.
If you're the only person with choir leadership or admin rights and other members are staying behind, cori blocks you from leaving. The button is greyed out and above it you'll read: “You're the only person who can manage this choir. Transfer the choir leadership or give someone admin rights before you leave.” The server rejects the attempt as well — so there's no way round it.
The reason: a choir with no choir leadership and no admins couldn't be rescued. Nobody could invite members, create appointments or manage the subscription — and nobody could make someone an admin, because that requires admin rights too.
Here's how to get out anyway — either one is enough:
After that the button is active again straight away.
The block only kicks in if there really is nobody left behind who can manage the choir:
- You're the last person in the choir. Then there's nobody left for you to leave behind — you can go. The choir does stay in place, empty; if it should be gone, delete it.
- There's still a choir leadership or at least one admin. Then management is covered and you get out normally — even as the choir leadership.
How to leave the choir
Go to Choir›Settings.
Right at the bottom you'll find the button for leaving. If it's greyed out, the block described above applies. Otherwise confirm the prompt — you're out immediately afterwards.
What happens afterwards
- You immediately lose access to this choir's songs, sheet music, appointments and Drive.
- You're removed from the choir-wide chat and the voice part chats.
- If you had admin rights, they're gone with it.
- The number of seats in the subscription is adjusted — from then on the choir pays for one person less.
What stays: your cori account, your personal practice progress (XP, level, streak, badges) and all the other choirs you're in.
You can come back at any time — all you need is the choir's invitation link again. You pick your voice pitch anew in the process.
Leave, remove or delete?
- Leave — affects only you. The choir carries on for everyone else.
- Remove — the choir leadership or an admin takes someone else out of the choir. See Removing a member from the choir.
- Delete — the whole choir disappears, with all its songs, sheet music, appointments and files. Only for the case where the choir really is disbanding. See Deleting a choir.
