Deleting a choir
Delete the choir for good — who's allowed to, why an active subscription has to be cancelled first, and what gets lost in the process.

If a choir disbands or you want to get rid of a test choir again, you can delete it from cori completely. It's the one action that can't be undone — which is why cori guards it twice over. This guide shows what to do beforehand, how the deletion works and what the alternatives are.
The choir director and all admins see the delete button. So an admin can delete the entire choir just as the choir director can — hand out admin rights with that in mind. Members don't see the button.
First: cancel any active subscription
As long as an active subscription is running for the choir, it can't be deleted. Instead of the safety prompt, cori shows the message “Please cancel your subscription before deleting the choir.” That applies even if you try to work around it — the block sits on the server, not just in the interface.
Subscriptions are managed exclusively in the web app. Open Subscription and cancel there. In the mobile app, all you'll find at this point is a pointer to the web app.
If you're still in your free trial, there's nothing to cancel — the choir can be deleted right away.
How to delete the choir
Go to Choir›Settings. The critical actions sit right at the bottom of the dialog.
A second prompt opens with a red warning. Up to this point nothing has happened yet.
Type the choir's name exactly as it appears above. The delete button stays greyed out until the name matches — upper and lower case included. Copy and paste works, but rather defeats the point of the prompt.
cori briefly confirms “Choir deleted successfully.” and takes you back to the start page. For all the other members, the choir disappears the next time they refresh.
What gets lost in the process
Everything attached to the choir disappears along with it:
- all songs and uploaded audio tracks
- all sheet music, including markings and shared annotations
- the entire Drive with all its folders and files
- all appointments, recurring appointments and recorded attendance
- all chats, messages and surveys
- setlists and choir playlists
What stays: your own cori account, your personal practice progress (XP, level, streak, badges) and every other choir you're in. The deletion only affects this one choir.
There's no export for a deleted choir. Download sheet music, recordings and important files from the Drive before you delete. Attendance lists for your association's records are best exported from the attendance overview beforehand.
Alternatives to deleting
In most cases, deleting isn't really what you want:
- You're stepping down but the choir carries on? Transfer the choir leadership to someone else and leave the choir afterwards. That way sheet music, appointments and history stay intact for everyone.
- You just want out yourself? Then simply leave the choir — that only affects you.
- The choir is taking a break? Cancel the subscription and leave the choir in place. The data stays and you can pick things up later without setting everything up again.
Get in touch with support immediately — the sooner, the better the chances that something can still be done. But don't count on it: treat deletion as final.
