Roles and settings in the 6K practice room
Who's allowed to do what in the 6K practice room, how to become a teacher, which settings exist in the app and the browser, and what only 6K UNITED! can change.
Web + app
The 6K practice room is deliberately kept lean: there are two roles, a handful of personal settings, and no admin interface for the practice room itself. This article says exactly who's allowed to do what, what you can change in the app and in the browser, and what you need 6K UNITED! for.
The songs, videos, sheet music and access codes of the 6K practice room are set by cori and 6K UNITED! outside the app. You won't find any settings for them in cori, not even as a teacher.
The two roles
| Participants | Teacher | |
|---|---|---|
| use songs, videos, sheet music | yes | yes |
| join a group | yes | yes |
| create a group | no | yes |
| create, change, cancel appointments | no | yes |
| see the group's name list | no | yes |
| remove children from the group | no | yes |
| see the attendance overview | no | yes |
Everything a teacher may additionally do always relates to their own group only, never to the whole 6K practice room. And it's enforced on the server: anyone who isn't a teacher can't get at another group's name list or appointments by any roundabout route either.
Becoming a teacher
There's no button with which you make somebody a teacher. The only route runs via the teacher key from 6K UNITED!:
6K UNITED! issues them to the participating schools and choirs. It isn't the same code the children join with.
Either you enter it as your access code right when you join, or you choose Create group in the settings later and enter it there. Both work in the app and in the browser.
Your role changes immediately, and your group's calendar appears, in the app together with the Group tab.
Once granted, a teacher role can't be taken away again in cori. Every redemption also uses up one of the key's uses. So only pass it on to people who really are going to run a group.
Your personal settings
Under Settings you'll find:
- Your voice. Left, Right or I don't know yet, changeable at any time.
- Your group. If a group is set, you'll also find the action to leave it here. As a teacher, deleting the group takes its place.
- Your name (in the app only). Tap the name with the pencil symbol at the top. It appears in the name list and next to your response to appointments.
- Language and About (in the app only).
- Discover cori: the route to a cori choir of your own outside the 6K practice room.
- Sign out.
When you sign out, cori deletes the local data of the device or the browser. If you never linked your account with email, Google or Apple, you can't get back in afterwards, not even with the same access code, because that creates a new, empty account. Secure your account beforehand.
Moving participants between groups
That's not something you do; the child does it, and it happens in one step: if they join another group, they're automatically removed from the old one. So you don't have to release anyone beforehand.
What you as a teacher can do is remove someone: in the app via the bin symbol in the name list, after a confirmation prompt. The child thereby loses access to your group's appointments and their responses to them, but stays in the 6K practice room, with all the songs, videos and their practice progress.
