Roles and settings in an organization
Who's allowed to do what in an organization, how to become a teacher, which settings exist — and what only the organizer can change.
App only
An organization's settings are only available in the phone app.
An organization is deliberately kept lean: there are two roles, a handful of personal settings — and no admin interface for the organization itself. This article spells out exactly who can do what, what you can change in the app, and what you need the organizer for.
The organization's name, logo, colours, songs, videos and access codes are set up by cori together with the organizer, outside the app. You won't find settings for any of that in the app — not even as a teacher.
The two roles

Everything a teacher can additionally do always applies to their own group only, never to the whole organization. And it's enforced on the server: anyone who isn't a teacher can't get at another group's name list or dates, however they try.
Becoming a teacher
There's no button that makes someone a teacher. The only way is via the organization's teacher key:
The organizer hands it out. It isn't the same code the kids use to join.
Either enter it as your access code when you join — or tap Create group in the settings later on and enter it there.
Your role switches immediately, and the Group and Calendar tabs appear in the navigation at the bottom.
Once granted, a teacher role can't be taken away again in the app. Every redemption also uses up one use of the key — so only pass it on to people who really are going to run a group.
Your personal settings
Under Settings you'll find:
- Your name. Tap the name with the pencil icon at the top. It appears in the name list and next to your response to dates.
- Your voice. Left, Right or I don't know yet — changeable at any time.
- Your group. If a group is set, this is also where you'll find the action to leave it. As a teacher, you'll see the option to delete the group instead.
- Language and About cori.
- Log out.
When you log out, cori deletes the device's local data. If you never linked your account to email, Google or Apple, you won't be able to get back in afterwards — not even with the same access code, because that creates a new, empty account. Secure your account first.
Moving participants between groups
That's not something you do — the child does it themselves, and it happens in one step: when they join another group, they're automatically removed from the old one. So you don't need to release anyone first.
What you can do as a teacher is remove someone: via the bin icon in the name list, after a confirmation. The child then loses access to your group's dates and their responses to them, but stays a member of the organization — with all the songs, videos and their practice progress.
What the organizer is responsible for
Get in touch with the organization if:
- an access code or teacher key no longer works, is used up or has expired
- a song, a video or a page of sheet music is missing or wrong
- the organization's name, logo or colours aren't right
- someone should get the teacher role but doesn't have a key
