Payment failed

What to do when a payment doesn't go through and your choir gets restricted.
Web only

Sometimes a payment doesn't go through — the card has expired, there aren't enough funds, or no payment method was added after the trial. cori doesn't lock anything away for good in that case; it shows you a notice and waits until the payment is sorted out. This guide shows what to do.

Who can fix this?

Only the choir director and admins can put the payment right, and only in the web app. Members do see the notice that something isn't right, but can't change anything themselves — they should talk to the choir leadership.

How to spot it

On the subscription page, cori shows one of two states depending on the situation:

  • Subscription Paused — if the trial ends without a payment method on file, the subscription is paused. You'll see "Your Subscription is currently paused. You can resume it anytime." and a Reactivate Subscription button.
  • Subscription Expired — if a payment fails on a running subscription, you'll get a notice asking you to check your payment details, plus a Renew Subscription button.

How to sort out the payment

1
Open the subscription page

In the web app, go to Subscription.

2
Manage or reactivate

Depending on the state, click Manage Subscription, Reactivate Subscription or Renew Subscription. That takes you to Stripe's customer portal.

3
Update the payment method

Add a valid payment method or update the existing one. As soon as the payment goes through, cori Pro is unlocked again.

While the payment is outstanding

Until the payment is settled, the Pro features are restricted. Your content — songs, sheet music, appointments and chats — stays in place, though, and is right back as soon as the subscription is active again.
