Transferring choir leadership
Handing leadership of the choir to another member — what changes as a result and why you can't simply take it back.
Web + app
Whether it's a change on the podium, a committee election or simply a stand-in arrangement that's become permanent: choir leadership can be handed to another member at any time. The choir itself stays fully intact — songs, sheet music, appointments and members are unaffected.
The choir leadership and all admins. Despite what the name suggests, this isn't something only the choir leadership can do — admins can appoint a new lead too.
How to transfer leadership
Go to Choir and find the person who is to take over the leadership.
Tap or click the ⋮ next to their name.
The handover happens immediately. The new choir leadership gets an email from cori.
What changes afterwards
- That person is now the choir leadership and is the only one who can no longer be removed or demoted.
- You automatically become an admin. So you don't lose any access — you keep all management rights and can still manage members, songs, appointments and even the subscription.
- Everything else stays as it was: members, content, appointments, chats and the running subscription.
After the handover you're an admin. Admins may indeed appoint a new choir leadership — but transferring it back is a deliberate act and should be agreed on. So settle the change beforehand rather than pushing it back and forth on your own.
When you should transfer it
- Before you leave the choir. If you're the only person with choir leadership or admin rights, cori won't even let you leave — the handover is then the precondition for you being able to go. See Leaving a choir.
- When there's a change of conductor or committee, so that responsibility sits where it belongs.
- Not just to give someone more rights — admin rights are enough for that.
