Finding your vocal range

Use the vocal range test to find out which notes you can sing confidently.

Web + app

The vocal range test finds out how low and how high you can sing confidently. cori remembers your result and adapts the singing exercises in the learning path to it – so they always sit in your voice.

Microphone needed

cori listens in through the microphone during the test – find yourself a quiet spot. Pitch detection runs entirely on your device; nothing is recorded and nothing is uploaded.

Web app
The test is mandatory before you start your first exercise in the browser — cori shows the “Find your vocal range” card for it. After that you can get to it any time via the Voice branch in the learning path.
Mobile app
Not a required step: as long as you haven't taken the test, cori derives a starting value from your voice type in the choir. You open the test itself via the tools menu on the home screen or via the Voice branch.

How the test works

1
Start the test

Open Vocal Range and tap Test. cori briefly explains what to do.

2
Sing low and high

Follow the prompts and sing along with the notes. cori continuously detects your pitch and remembers the lowest and the highest note you held cleanly.

3
Look at the result

At the end cori shows your range as a span of notes – from the lowest to the highest, for example "A2 – E4". Confirm to accept it.

What cori does with the result

Your saved vocal range determines which register cori pitches singing exercises in. You'll also find it again in the learning path in the Voice branch – there it sits at the top above the path, with a button to repeat the test.

Repeating the test

If exercises consistently feel too high or too low, simply take the test again. cori asks "Repeat test?" first and points out that your previous results will be discarded.
