Storage space in the Drive

How much space your choir has, what's using it up, and how to free space again.

Every choir in cori has a shared storage quota. This guide explains how big it is, what counts towards it, and what you can do when space gets tight.

Who sees what?

The storage overview can be viewed by all members. Tidying up — deleting files and emptying the Trash — is only possible for the choir leadership and admins.

How much space does my choir have?

Storage depends on the number of members: each member brings 512 MB (about half a gigabyte). So a choir with 20 members has roughly 10 GB. When new members join, the quota grows automatically.

Not tied to your plan

Storage space depends on the number of members, not on the subscription you've booked. A bigger choir has more space — whichever plan you're on.

What uses up storage

Two things count towards the same quota:

  • Files in the Drive — sheet music, recordings, documents and their folders.
  • Chat attachments — anything sent in a conversation as a file or an image.
The Trash counts too

Deleted files sit in the Trash at first and keep taking up storage. Only once you delete them for good is the space freed up.

Check what's being used

Web app
In the Drive, a line shows “… of … used”. Click it to open the storage details.
Mobile app
In the Drive, usage is shown as “… of … used”. Tap it to open the storage details.

The storage details show total usage with a percentage, how much is still free, and the split between “Files” and “Chat attachments”. The choir leadership and admins also see which conversation is taking up how much space with its attachments.

When space gets tight

cori warns you in good time:

  • From 85 % usage the “Storage almost full” notice appears.
  • At 100 % cori reports “Storage full”. At that point new uploads are blocked — chat attachments included — until space is free again. An upload that would burst the quota is rejected with “Storage quota exceeded”.

Free up space

Track down big files

Sort the Drive with Sort›Size (largest) and look in the storage details to see whether it's the files or the chat attachments taking up the space.

Delete what you no longer need

Delete old recordings or duplicates. Remember: afterwards they're still sitting in the Trash.

Empty the Trash

Only deleting for good in the Trash actually frees up the storage.

Back things up before deleting

Download files you might still need beforehand — files that are permanently deleted cannot be restored.
