Creating folders

Structure the Drive with folders so everyone can find your sheet music and recordings again.

Web + app

The more there is in the Drive, the more a clear structure matters. With folders you sort sheet music, recordings and documents so that everyone in the choir finds what they're looking for straight away. This guide shows how to create folders, nest them and name them sensibly.

Who can create folders?

Only the choir leadership and admins can create folders — exactly as with uploading files. All other members can see the folder structure, but can't create or change folders themselves.

How to create a folder

1
Go to the right place

A new folder is always created wherever you currently are. If you want to create a subfolder, open the parent folder first.

2
Open “New folder”
Web app
In the Drive, click “New folder” at the top right.
Mobile app
Tap the plus at the bottom right and then “New folder”.
3
Set the name and visibility

Enter a name under Folder name. Below it, under Permission, you can already decide who's allowed to see the folder: “Inherit from folder”, “All members” or “Admins only”. If you leave it on “Inherit from folder”, the parent folder's visibility applies automatically.

4
Save

Confirm with Confirm (web) or Save (app). The folder appears in the list immediately.

Nested folders

Folders can sit inside each other as deeply as you like — “Concert 2026 › Programme › Encores”, for example. Open a folder and create the next one inside it. The breadcrumb bar at the top lets you jump back up a level at any time.

Naming folders

  • A folder name can be up to 255 characters long; / and \ aren't allowed.
  • Within the same folder, every name has to be unique. If you create a second folder with exactly the same name in the same place, cori reports a conflict.
  • You can rename at any time — see Moving and renaming files.

A suggested structure

There's no right or wrong, but here's a structure that works well:

  • By occasion: one folder per concert, project or term.
  • By content: separate folders for sheet music, recordings and admin.
  • Confidential things separately: put internal material (contracts, planning) in its own folder set to “Admins only” — more on that under Visibility of files and folders.
