When you delete something in Files, it isn't gone straight away: cori moves it to the Trash first. From there you can get it back — or remove it for good. This guide explains both routes and why the Trash still takes up storage space.

Who manages the Trash?

Only the choir leadership and admins can delete, restore and delete permanently. Other members have no access to the Trash.

What happens when you delete

If you delete a file or a folder, it moves to the Trash. With a folder, all the subfolders and files inside it come along. For everyone else the entries disappear from Files immediately; the files themselves are kept, though, and can be restored.

The Trash doesn't free up storage yet

As long as something is sitting in the Trash, it still counts towards your choir's storage quota. Only permanent deletion frees up the space.

In Files, click “Trash” at the top.

In Files, tap the trash icon at the top.

Select the entry

Find the file or folder in the Trash. Using multi-select you can also mark several at once.

Tap “Restore”

cori puts the entry back in its original location. Folders are restored along with their contents.

If the original folder is gone

If the folder a file used to sit in has since been deleted itself, cori restores the file at the root of Files. If there's already an entry with the same name at the destination, cori automatically appends "(restored)" so nothing gets overwritten.

Deleting permanently

To free up storage, remove entries for good:

Individually or as a selection: "Delete forever" on the entry in question.
App only
Use "Empty Trash" to remove the entire contents of the Trash at once. On the web you delete the individual entries or a selection instead.

This can't be undone

Permanently deleted files are gone irretrievably — cori confirms it with "Permanently delete? This cannot be undone." Download important files beforehand if you're unsure.

How long do things stay in the Trash?

Indefinitely. cori does not empty the Trash automatically — entries sit there until someone removes them for good. That's convenient, but it also means: to win storage space back, you have to empty the Trash yourself.
